Gebhard Kindl, responsible for the Henselt-Archive in Schwabach, received six copies from Henselt-letters for the Archive in April, ncluding a letter from Robert Schumann from Leipzig to A.W. Zuccalmaglio from 01.13.1838, in which Schumann asks Zuccalmaglio for advertisement for Henselts concert before Henselt arrives in Warsaw. Schumann writes:
“… Now, two requests. First, Henselt will be with you within a short time, because I had given him a few lines for you. You should let him play for hours and hours for you, then you will appreciate him, better said admire him. Between all piano players, and I have often heard them all, he made me the happiest hours … ”
Also exciting is a letter from Henselt to Graf von Pocci, with whom Henselt was friend since his time in Munich. “As a proof of friendship” he sent him his first work, the Concert Variations, dedicated to Queen Therese of Bavaria. Furthermore he wrote from the Etudes, Op. 2, which he wanted to dedicate Ludwig I of Bavaria.
Another letter is from Henselt himself while staying in St. Petersburg to Hector Berlioz. All of those letters that are originally located in the “Morgan Library & Museum” in New York, are an important gain for the Henselt archive. They help to brighten Henselt’s life and work.
